Since 1939
Eighty-five years of Up North.
From a quiet alpine retreat to a year-round destination, Otsego has kept its lodge-style soul through every chapter.
- 1939
A quiet alpine retreat
Otsego Resort is established as an alpine retreat in the hills above Gaylord, just off what would become I-75.
- 1955
The Classic is born
Alan L. Gornick acquires the property and transforms it into a four-season destination, adding the championship Classic course designed by William H. Diddel.
- 1981
Room to grow
Keith H. Gornick takes ownership, expanding the resort from 60 rooms across 500 acres to 105 rooms spanning 4,000 acres — all while keeping its intimate, lodge-style feel.
- Later
The Tribute arrives
A second championship course, The Tribute, is added and recognized by Sports Illustrated as a Top 10 Best New Course.
- Today
A year-round tradition
Classic Northern Michigan charm meets year-round adventure — with the award-winning Duck Blind Grille earning Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence along the way.
